My name is Greg Cruey. I am an educator, journalist, travel writer, technology buff, Asia enthusiast, and avid China watcher. I'm also a blogaholic.
I've lived on four continents and in 14 times zones. In the past 25 years I have worked in education, community development, economic development, journalism, and teaching in a variety of public and private settings in Asia, parts of the Pacific, and in rural Appalachia. My work as a journalist has included everything from being a beat reporter for a daily to working as editor-in-chief of a small college paper. I have been blogging and writing online for over a decade now.
I have degrees in psychology (minor in sociology), linguistics, and adult education (emphasis on technology). I've studies at Augusta State University, the Australian National University and Marshall University. I've done non-degree work in counseling, educational disabilities, and educational leadership.

I have an extensive international writing and financial publishing background. As an itinerant journalist, I have been reporting on emerging markets, especially China and Vietnam for Asia Times Online.
As a serial media entrepreneur, I was the founding editor for New Asia Review and the editor and publisher of Venture Japan. My Wall Street experience, includes group journals publisher for Investment Dealers' Digest (now a part of Dow Jones & Co.) Directors & Boards, Mergers & Acquisitions. M&A International, (London Office) and Venture Japan.
I am the author of the seminal book Venture Japan: How Growing Companies Worldwide Can Tap into the Japanese Venture Capital Markets, published by Probus in January 1992. I earned a B.A and a M.A with honors in English and American Studies from the University of Maryland and have been a past National Endowment Fellow at Yale University. I presently divide my time between the Savannah River and the Mekong.
