According to experts with long-term experience in Asia, opportunities in venture capital and private equity certainly exist---but only for those who can understand and capitalize on the cultural and business differences that make the region unique. That may explain why Bain Capital has tapped the talented and guanxi- savvy, Huang Jinsheng as their newly named Bain Capital China president.
According to Pacific Epoch, the former Softbank Asia Infrastructure Fund (SAIF) director, Huang Jinsheng recently informed china business news that he will resign from his SAIF position and join US venture capital firm Bain Capital at the end of October. Huang previously led SAIF's investments in UTStarcom (Nasdaq: UTSI) and Shanda (Nasdaq: SNDA).
Bain Capital China operations will be based in Shanghai.
