Today the Arizona Republican printed one of the best short round ups of basic etiquette tips for Asia that I think I've ever seen. Ten straightforward tips to remember - all of them easy to keep and easy to break, depending on what you know.
The tips are simple enough. Remember that Asians are proud of their countries, and that telling them how bad you feel for them because they live in such an authoritarian or communist place is really insulting. Don't use slang or tell jokes because they don't translate well (or at all). Don't play with your chopsticks.
And do not blow your nose in public, especially in Japan. The Japanese think that this is akin to taking a leak on the sidewalk while people walking by can watch.
You can read the whole story here.
