Duncan Hunter: The Anti-China Candidate
Filed in archive News on November 29, 2007
He's fifty-nine. He's been a GOP member of the House of Representatives for almost half his life. He's served as chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. And now California Congressman Duncan Lee Hunter wants to be President.
He has managed to set himself up as the anti-China presidential candidate. According to The Hill, Hunter is "pressing President Bush to call a meeting with several congressional committees to discuss policy towards China in the aftermath of Beijing's refusal to allow a Navy aircraft carrier and its accompanying ships to dock in Hong Kong last week."

Hunter's disdain for China has struck a chord, as this blog quote shows: "I could listen to Duncan Hunter talk about China and them cheating on trade policy all day long."
CNN's Political Ticker carried a short piece on Hunter's triads. "China is cheating on trade, and they're using that $200 billion trade deficit over the United States to buy ships, planes and missiles," The quoted Hunter as saying.
The scary part is that Hunter is not just down on China's trade policies. He's sound prepared to start the next cold war over the issues...
