Do the Chinese LIKE Censorship?
Filed in archive Internet by Greg Cruey on April 1, 2008
According to a recent study by the Pew center, the answer to that question appears to be "yes." The report by Deborah Fallows (published in PDF format) is available online for free.

Fallows points out the political myopia that many westerns have on the issue:
Many Americans assume that China's internet users are unhappy about their government's control of the internet, but a new survey finds most Chinese say they approve of internet regulation, especially by the government.
I suppose that whether you're here or there, control (in and of itself) is not really the issue. The issue is, how much control? and the degree or extent of government involvement in things like the Internet is a slippery slope, a continuum - not an on/off witch.
