Speak to any global investor and most will exclaim how financial reforms in China have paved the road to the new economy. Many senior Asian analysts also attribute the economic dividends to the emergence of Chinese venture capital. Investment opportunities can be found in incubator companies now flowering in major universities such as Peking and Tsinghua, government-funded high-tech parks, and China's own ambitious equivalent of Silicon Valley the Zhongguancun Science Park.

In late May at the high profile science park in the Haidian district in Beijinglinks, the Chinese government placed a spotlight on the Chinese Pioneers Summit. Invited VIPs included entrepreneurs and their own brand of "made in China" hi-tech achievements" mixing it up with policy pundits and domestic venture capitialists.

The conversation focused not so much on the next "big thing" but rather on how to realize sustainable growth with a backdrop of globalization. It's now wonder that there is a new Investment and Financing Promotion Centre for with the help of China Beijing Equity Exchange (CBEX). It is a non-profit professional institute that aims to provide professional investment and financing services to new enterprises in Zhongguancun High-Tech Park.

China's first large-scale high-tech park houses now more than 6000 domestic enterprises engaged in IT, including the globally minded Legend Group, which transformed itself into one of the world's fastest-growing technology conglomerates, now branded as
Lenovo
, with its hands on everything from desktops and servers to cell phones, retail franchises and information technology services.

These past twelve years at the reknown science park have witnessed a heart-pounding healthy annual growth rate in excess of 30 percent.

China is still on a long march to create its own brand of an Intel-inspired culture, but each day in scores of science parks, there is an increasing higher level of innovation. Across that wide blue Pacific Ocean, California still boasts its share of bold venture capitalists, while China's state surplus is propped up with talented overseas Chinese spinning out their own home-grown variation of venture capitalism.
