China More Than Doubles Renewable Energy Goals
Filed in archive News on August 11, 2009
Renewable energy has become even more of an economic and policy focus for China according to VentureBeat.
VentureBeat says that China now has a goal of producing 15 percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2020.While 15 percent might not seem like a lot in California where the mandate is 33 percent of the state's total by 2020, the figure is pretty ambitious for a country with such a massive population and higher technological hurdles. In fact, 15 percent would be 13 times China's current amount of energy generated by renewables (about 15 million kilowatts, according to VentureWire). The proposal would significantly revise a current target of 60 million kilowatts by 2020.
Solar energy projects are supposed to benefit from the new push. But my guess is that there will be new room for investment in China in most alternative energy fields...

Mine Professor handed out to me a research assignment about the most important events and conferences in China that are related to renewable energy and sustainability technologies. Due to your experience do you know which are the most important events and conferences of this year? If you would start a new business in China regard this argument, where would you concentrate your investment?
Thank you for your attention.
Kind regards,
