BabyTree, a Chinese social networking site for mothers-to-be, just picked up $10 million in venture capital funds from Matrix Partners China Fund.
Matrix Partners set up a China Fund last month and put $275 million aside for China investments, according to Silk Road To Dragon China. Matrix Partners' new fund will be managed by Bo Shao (a partner with the firm) and David Zhang (formerly of WI Harper). According to Silk Road, David Zhang is well experienced in venture investment in new media and high-tech industries and Bo Shao specializes in Internet investment.

Pearl Research says, "BabyTree provides an online platform for mothers to blog and exchange ideas about raising their children." The site was founded by a former employee of Google Asia.
