Animated Thunder from China's Great Wall
Shenzhen based download accelerating software provider Thunder Networking president Zou Shenglong announced that more than 75 million people have installed Thunder's software and that the company has over 100 million users, reports Pacific Epoch. The success of the Thunder's accelerated downloading has been bolstered largely since the company received the exclusive online broadcasting rights of the new and wildly popular Chinese animated film "Thru The Moebius Strip." No wonder the company is hopeful about a possible Nasdaq listing in 2008 or sooner.

It's noteworthy that the global cartoon and comic industry is worth an estimated US$200-500 billion a year. Thru the Moebius Strip is the most expensive animated film ever made in China which features more than 400 artists from eight countries and was released in China just a few weeks ago.

The $16 million animation, about a resourceful boy's adventure, is thoroughly western in terms of visual style, and content. In fact, the film was made in English with Chinese as a second language, a first for China-made films.

Check out Thierry's cultural blog for an excellent overview on the history of Chinese animation.
