A Frank Look at China's Business Practices
Filed in archive Venture Capital on August 12, 2007
You'd almost call it China bashing - if the author, Yue Xi, wasn't Chinese. Yue Xi takes a look at some of the pitfalls of doing business in China in her blog post, Five Unpleasant Truths of Doing Business in China.
The blog post takes a frank look at some common issues Western companies face in China. How much is a contract really worth? Often, not much in China. Combine that with the Chinese tendency to clone, copy, and duplicate ideas and products and you begin to develop a better understanding of why situations like the lawsuit between 9you and T3 Entertainment arise.
Her fifth truth is perhaps Yue Xi's most unpleasant one. From her post: "Last, and I hate to be so blunt, but the brutal truth is that most Chinese consider Americans stupid."
Read her whole blog post for more details.
